Ascot Vale III (retreat)
With the pre existing garden being a pad of paving surrounded by gravel the brief was to create a garden room. A space that felt like a retreat from the inner city urban surrounds. With large double story buildings at the rear, this garden needed the exaggerated height the capital pear provides, without compromising space.
The thin profile timber decking was introduced with lineal lines to stretch the space out and bring the garden up to internal floor level, this created an inviting connection between the inside and the outside.
The Virginia creeper sits above head trained along tensioned wires, with its draping nature providing foreground foliage.
